THE NAXOS GUIDE TO FERRY TIMES TO AND FROM NAXOS

One way adult price, Piraeus to Naxos: €24 - 2006 Guide only.

As there are so many changes to ferry times and routes each year, we have decided to remove the timetable.  Usually, there are boats from Piraeus at 7.30 am - 8.00 am and they take about 6 hours, followed by afternoon boats about 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm with the occasional late night one.  Also, the hi-speed leaves at similar times and takes a couple of hours less.  DO NOT TAKE THIS AS GOSPEL!  Always try to check ferry times before heading to Piraeus.  They can change by the year, the season, the weather.  Also, there are the unpredictable but fairly frequent, national strikes.  In Naxos, stroll along the Paralia and see what is on offer - some agencies only deal with one line so check several to find all the sailings.  It is best to book the day before to make sure that the boats are as per the advertisements.  Nowadays you are allocated airline type seats - fine if you intend to sleep and read the journey away.

If your ferry is cancelled because of the weather or a strike, go to the harbour police to get an official bit of paper stating this.  You'll need it for insurance purposes if you miss a flight and, also, should this happen, they can be very helpful at the airport trying to get you on an alternative flight.

www.ferries.gr - excellent, recommended - you can also book tickets online here but The Guide has not tested this yet but is probably a good idea July - September when the ferries burst at the seams.

These pages can be accessed through the above but, to a lesser or greater degree, have little additional information.
